Apply rudder pressure. (Remember my Yoda-minded one? Well, he spoke many wise words this morning. That one he kept repeating. Another one: look out for that jet. Check out the photo below.)
I was thrilled that I got to go flying this morning! Especially when I saw gusts of 35 miles per hour last night according to my tablet. You learn to watch the weather like it’s a weekly special that you just can’t live without.
But, there were still wind gusts this morning. I was happy NOT to solo this morning and instead got further training doing crosswind landings. Everything I was going through was preparing me for what I asked for. Everyone asks me when I’ll get my pilot’s license. (BTW, my student license is really pretty and I show it off like most people show off their baby pictures.) The answer is that time will come when it’s right. In the meantime, I enjoy the flights immensely. The weather: hmmm, not so much right now between the rains and winds. It should be teaching me patience. I should learn patience, right? And, making sound judgements, right? The only thing I hear is, “why did you just do that?” Yep, from my Yoda. He knows more about planes than anyone I know.
“Patience you must have.” Yoda
The one I keep repeating to myself when I go solo: “Try not. Do or do not. There is no try.” Yoda
You really have to work hard to get your license. “A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away… to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm?” Yoda
I joke here. But, if you’re considering taking flying lessons, I cannot imagine a better instructor. He makes you feel totally at ease. You laugh alot. You learn so very, very much from the very best – I guarantee you that. It’s hard work but aren’t you worth it? Isn’t the safety of your family worth it?
