Not in any structured order – just places I want to go:
- Catalina Island, California: Catalina Airport, known as the Airport in the Sky; Wrigley Botanical Gardens, Moonstone Beach, views, marine sanctuary, snorkling
- Hangar Hotel, Fredericksburg, Texas: where it feels like 1942
- Runway 14/32: 5001 feet by 75 ft.
- National Museum of the Pacific War
- Hotel based on old military World War II hangars
- 200 acres of wildflower farm
- Wichita, Kansas: Air Capital of the World – Atchinson, Kansas was home to Amelia Earhart
- South Bass Island, Put-in-Bay, Ohio: Victorian era inspired island. Cave tours, antique cars, nightime: Mardi Gras atmosphere, plus Cedar Point amusement park is not that far away (Be aware to detour along the south shore of Lake Erie to avoid Canadian airspace)
- Dayton, Ohio: hometown of the Wright Brothers; World’s largest military aviation museum; fly replica of the Wright B flyer
- Dauphin Island, Alabama: as close as you can get to landing on an aircraft carrier
- Tangier Island, Virginia: unique English Restoration-era dialect
- Gatlinburg, Tennessee: for obvious reasons
- Mackinac Island, Michigan: No motorized vehicles. Accessible only by ferry boat or plane. Horse and carriage.
- North Carolina Outer Banks: spot where the Wright Brothers took their first flight in 1903
- Key West, Florida: taste of the Caribbean
- Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii
- San Juan Islands, Washington: whale watching; 80 nautical miles from Seattle
…and watch for the list to grow
