“Sometimes, flying feels too godlike to be attained by man. Sometimes, the world from above seems too beautiful, too wonderful, too distant for human eyes to see . . . “   Charles A. Lindbergh

Every morning is too beautiful for words when you get the opportunity to fly.  It excites me to my core.  It’s exciting like the first time you held your baby in your arms, like watching them take their first steps, like the beauty of my father’s beloved roses, and all the other things that I treasure with all my heart – it’s like a summation of all the really good things in my life.  It’s not a replacement for any of those things.  I just think having an appreciation for those makes flying that much sweeter.

Today we flew to Roanoke and practiced touch and go’s.  It was more exciting than normal because there was constant turbulence near the mountains.  At first I tried to hold on for all it was worth until Roger pointed out that it would serve me better to let the plane do its thing by just holding a straight course rather than trying to fight the ebb and flow of the turbulence.  I had to laugh when he asked, “where are you going there?”   He did call in a PIREP so other pilots who would be flying in the area would know about it.  I love things like that.

Flying, and with Roger as my instructor,  is always a PURE JOY.

“The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.”  -B.B. King
